The Pleasure of Finding Things Out
Why do we pay attention to the wildlife around us? Why do we snap a photo of that interesting bird at the backyard feeder, or the strange plant we discovered on a hike? Perhaps it is as basic as what the famous physicist Richard Feynman called the "pleasure of finding things out." And putting a name to things is really only a superficial aspect of such discoveries. The real pleasure he speaks of, which you can watch him describe in the video above, is actually observing the behavior and characteristics of wildlife. So as you use Species Explorer, try and describe something you observed while watching the plant or animal, how did it interact with other species around it, what about it did you find interesting or unique?
