Suggestions
Hi,
i'm new in this community and i write english as i can... So, excuse me for the bigger grammatical faults. :D
Previously, i will thanks the authors for having a idea like this one (i would like to have it). It's genius and i have discover the website by an application of my new smartphone. But with this i have some littles questions about it.
I saw that it was created at the end of 2008, and after, i have found that it exits an app for Nokia smartphone (works great but needs some little fix i think) and a facebook apps (doesn't work???) but i find that there was few entries for the moment. Do you have some problems of web visibility?
Otherwise, about the site, i also think it needs some improvements. For an exemple, as an authors of "sighting" i can't acces easily to my entries for little modifications or other... Or i can't acces all the entries without pass by the map (by an index for exemple...)
It's all for the moment but if i have some others suggestions i'll post here.

I have an other question. What's about fungi?
Because it's also an important part of our living environement and it can be see by our eyes like plants (I don't speek about the bacteria or other archebacteria because they are not observable with eyes.)

On postings of fungi, that was not considered something most users would post about, so as of now is not included. But will be added if there is interest.
First of all, thanks for the answers and the compliment about the photos but i'm not a real photograph, i just takes pictures of underwater species because i love them.
But, since i know this site, i take my camera with me in case of... and it's a great idea (see the tawny owl entries). :)
So, to return to the suggestions, effectively, i had not seen the "track" link in "my account" and i think it's because the "navigation bar" (just underligned in green) was to discreet, maybe a button-like aspect will be more efficient ?
For the map, i had understood its fonctionnement but i think my english was'nt clear and my question too. I would like to know if we can have a search by species (already observed) directly on the site (i.e. by an index or something else)?
And to finish, i like underwater species and mushroom(fungi) too, so do you think i can make ONE entry about ONE fungi to see if others users follow me ?
Thanks by advance.
JB
PS : excuse-me for the "-1" notations of your post but i didn't know that the arrow have this fonctions... i believed it was for reply...
PS 2 : i have forgot a suggestions... :(
On th map, the date wich is indicated is the entry date. The observation date could not be more interesting?
Fungi is now a species category you can use in your sightings, look forward to seeing some you find!
The other suggestions are good ones and will look into them, thanks again for helping improve the site.
And great recent posting of the owl chick!

Hi Jean-Baptiste,
First of all, thank you for your great postings recently, the photos are amazing and it's nice to see underwater species being reported!
The mobile app does have a few issues that we are working to fix in the next release. The facebook issue may be due to recent changes in Facebook related to their Facebook Connect service which is being looked into and hopefully a fix soon.
You make a good suggestion on an easier way to see all your own postings. Currently, a quick way is to choose "My account" from the left menu, then "Track", which will then show all your recent activity. You may be referring to the interactive 3D browser, on the other hand, which is purely a more visual map-based interface that is an alternative to the text based navigation on the main site.
There is definitely a need for more postings! I am working currently on some efforts to allow postings without need for setting up a Species Explorer account, to help grow more activity and postings.
Thanks again for helping support Species Explorer. Will be working on some of the above issues in the next few weeks. Please check back!
