The eastern indigo snake is a species of large, non-venomous snake in the subfamily Colubrinae of the family Colubridae. Native to the southeastern United States, it is the longest native snake species in the country.

The eastern indigo snake is immune to the venom of rattlesnakes and actively preys on them — it pins them down and swallows them alive, head first.
Habitat
Occurred on sandhills, in association with gopher tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus) burrows.
Diet
Eat any other small animal it can overpower.
