The lar gibbon, also known as the white-handed gibbon, is an endangered primate in the gibbon family, Hylobatidae. It is one of the better-known gibbons and is often kept in captivity.

Fun Fact

Lar gibbons are the fastest and most agile of all primates in the trees, brachiating through the canopy at speeds up to 56 km/h (35 mph) and swinging across gaps of 15 metres in a single leap.
