The llama is a domesticated South American camelid, widely used as a meat and pack animal by Andean cultures since the pre-Columbian era.
Fun Fact
The genus Lama is, with the three species of true camels, the sole existing representatives of a very distinct section of the Artiodactyla (even-toed ungulates) called Tylopoda, or "bump-footed", from the peculiar bumps on the soles of their feet.
Habitat
Found in Pleistocene deposits in the Rocky Mountains and in Central America.
