The red junglefowl, also known as the Indian red junglefowl, is a species of tropical, galliform bird in the phasianid family, found across much of Southeast and parts of South Asia.

Red junglefowl are the wild ancestors of all domestic chickens, and there are now over 33 billion domestic chickens on Earth — the most numerous bird species ever to exist, all descended from this one wild species.
