The foothill elaenia is a species of bird in subfamily Elaeniinae of family Tyrannidae, the tyrant flycatchers. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.

It might also occur between these isolated areas, and there is also at least one record in southern Colombia.

Inhabits the interior and edges of humid montane forest.
