The black-faced antbird is a species of bird in subfamily Thamnophilinae of family Thamnophilidae, the "typical antbirds". It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.

The specific epithet is from the Ancient Greek muiothēras meaning "flyhunter".
Habitat
Occurs in nearby mature secondary woodland, transitional forest, and occasionally in seasonally flooded areas.
Diet
Prey fleeing the ants, but is subordinate to obligate ant-followers.
