The Mexican chickadee was originally described in 1856 as Parus meridionalis.
Habitat
Inhabits pine, pine-oak, and spruce/fir forest in the subtropical and tropical zones at elevations between 1,500 and 3,900 m (4,900 and 12,800 ft).
