The blackish tapaculo is a species of bird in the family Rhinocryptidae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.

Tapaculos have almost completely lost the ability to fly and spend their entire lives in dense undergrowth, detected almost exclusively by their sharp, penetrating calls.
