The yellow warbler is a New World warbler species. Yellow warblers are the most widespread species in the diverse genus Setophaga, breeding in almost the whole of North America, the Caribbean, as well as northern South America.

Fun Fact

American yellow warblers are the most widespread New World warbler, breeding from Alaska to Peru, and when cowbirds lay eggs in their nests, they build a new nest floor over the parasitic eggs — sometimes stacking up to six layers.
