The great tinamou is a species of tinamou ground bird native to Central and South America. There are several subspecies, mostly differentiated by their coloration.

Fun Fact

The Great Tinamou can fly but rarely does; its hollow-boned structure makes it extremely buoyant and it tires very quickly, preferring to escape danger on foot.
